Chippewa Falls (WQOW)- A handful of preschoolers are learning how to talk with their hands.
Students at B’utiful Kids Learning Center in Chippewa Falls participate in a sign language class every Friday.
Owner Brenda Johnson said most of her students are between the ages of two and five, but said even babies can learn some signs.
Johnson said it’s important to introduce kids to all sorts of languages, and sign language is one that is easy for them to pick up.
“It’s easier to communicate with each other starting with the basic signs like ‘more’ and ‘all done’ as an infant because obviously they have no communication at that age, Johnson said. “It just helps parents understand wants and needs better.”
Johnson uses songs, books, and the alphabet to teach her kids the language.
