FOND DU LAC – A community night scheduled for parents and their children Oct. 9 will address social media, screen time and child safety in a digital world.

The free event begins at 6:30 p.m. at Goodrich Little Theater and features speaker Collin Kartchner, whose campaign #SavetheKids focuses on social media and screen addiction’s negative affect on mental and emotional health.

Collin will discuss the damage social media and 24/7 access to peer culture has on children’s mental health. His goal is to help teens rise above social media comparison, negativity, cyber bullying and the stress of being perfect.

His #SavetheKids Parent Awareness Nights have helped empower parents to stop fighting their teen’s phone use and start fighting for their teen, according to his website

Fond du Lac School District is hosting the event, in partnership with Agnesian Health Care, a member of SSM Health.
