GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) — If you have school-aged kids, this story’s for you. You’ll likely want to talk to them about what’s going on in Grand Forks, and how wrong it is.
We’re told that there are some kids jumping onto roads in front of oncoming traffic, on purpose.
Last night on social media, someone posted after seeing an incident.
One Grand Forks resident says three boys were walking on North Washington. They walked in front of his vehicle and jumped back.
A few moments later, they were spotted again not far away doing the same thing.
“I just think it’s crazy,” said Thomas Simpkins from Grand Forks. “I don’t know why people would you know, be jumping in front of traffic and trying to cause an accident.”
Police say they’re continuing to search for the boys.
Monday night wasn’t the first time; another man says the same thing happened to him about a week ago. This time, he says a kid jumped in front of his car and just stood there.
“Stop running in traffic,” Sean Kraut from Grand Forks. “You’re going to get someone in trouble or yourself or both.”
“I really don’t want to end up with a manslaughter charge or end up hurting somebody cause I ran them over in the middle of the night,” said Simpkins.
What might be just a game to the teenagers is actually a danger to them and the unsuspecting drivers.
“Just going to drive a little bit slower, I guess,” said Simpkins. “Stop at all the corners, just making sure that I’m not going to hit anybody.”
If you see anyone jumping out onto the roads, you should contact Grand Forks Police.
