- Gwen Stefani has three children from her marriage with her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.
- Their sons are Kingston James McGregor Rossdale, 13, Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale, 11, and Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale, 5.
For many years, Gwen Stefani was self-admittedly torn between fulfilling her potential as an artist and fulfilling her lifelong desire to have a family. But Gwen’s star has only continued to rise since welcoming her three sons with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale: Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo.
While the multi-platinum singer, fashion designer, and coach on NBC’s The Voice has admitted she sometimes has trouble maintaining her work-life balance, she said she finds parenthood “so incredible and rewarding.”
“In the beginning, I didn’t want to think of myself as a mother. I was like, ‘Wait a minute! ‘Ain’t No Hollaback Girl’ is who I am!’” Gwen, 50, recalled to InStyle in 2015. “I had to learn quickly to accept it. Being a mother and having a career―those are just different roles you play. You’re still the same person you were before, but now you’re more because you’re a mother too, with a lot to do.”
So what’s Gwen’s approach to parenting? “One day at a time,” she said.
Here’s everything you need to know about Gwen’s three children.
Like mother, like son! Gwen’s firstborn, 13-year-old Kingston, shares his mom’s passion for music and fashion. At just 5 years old, Kingston earned a spot on GQ’s Most Stylish Young Men Under 30. Kingston also plays electric guitar in the band Wild Card, who performed at the Whisky a Go-Go in West Hollywood in 2018.
Kingston is growing up fast—maybe a little too fast! In May 2017, Gwen celebrated her son’s birthday on Instagram with a photo of Kingston looking like a mini version of dad Gavin. “#Big,” she wrote, alongside a heart emoji.
Kingston and Gwen aren’t the only fashionistas in the family. At just 10 years old, Gwen’s second son, Zuma, collaborated with his mom on a teen/tween eyewear collection called Zuma Rock, People reported.
“Zuma is a little more boyish and doesn’t care as much [about his style]. But with the glasses, he does because it’s something he identifies with,” Gwen said, adding that her now 11-year-old son “wouldn’t be ready to go to school unless he wore the fun [glasses].”
Gwen has often referred to her youngest son, Apollo, 5, as her “miracle baby.” She told Seth Meyers in 2014 that even though she and then-husband Gavin had felt their family was complete with two kids, Kingston had his heart set on another baby brother.
“He prayed every single night and four weeks later I was pregnant,” she said. Gwen wished her “#truemiracle” a happy birthday on Instagram in 2018, sharing a snap of him all dressed up for his Scooby-Doo-themed birthday party.
Does Blake Shelton get along with Gwen’s kids?
In 2017, Shelton opened up to People about his love for Gwen’s sons, calling them “so damn funny.” Shelton, who has no children of his own, added, “It’s just my first time being around it, and it’s easy to fall in love with those kids. They’re pretty special.”
A source also told People, “Blake treats Gwen’s kids like they’re his own. They just glow when they’re together.”
Blake, Gwen, and her sons had a rare outing in April for the premiere of his film UglyDolls.
“My cool points went up with this one,” the country star, 43, joked to Extra at the time. “The kids are super excited about this movie.”
